Hi, I’m Dan Sanchez. I am a marketing director for Bethany Global University where I vlog about what is going on on campus and occasionally travel to visit students around the world. On this blog, I wanted to share what I am learning about vlogging and how to build DIY video studios to help you share your story.
In 2009, I was trying to make my way as a graphic designer when I fell in love with all things digital. Managing social media, email marketing, SMS campaigns, and online video were beginning to become available as career options everywhere, so I went along for the ride. After working in multiple states for a variety of employers, I ended up with an amazing career in digital marketing and earned my BS in Marketing and my MBA.
Today, I work full time for a private university where I direct the marketing and media departments, teach as an adjunct instructor, and coach students who work alongside me in marketing, design, and/or media disciplines.
Goals for This Website
When I started searching for how-to’s and inspiration to build my first DIY video studio, I was disappointed by the lack of information out there on the subject. There weren’t any clear answers for the questions I had on wall colors, lighting, soundproofing, or gear (at least gear recommendations that I felt had actually been used by the blogger).
At the same time, I discovered that there were hundreds of vloggers creating videos about how to vlog, but hardly anybody was writing about the topic that could be found easily on Google. I don’t know about you, but when I am researching a topic, I like to read in addition to watching videos.
This website is my documented journey of how to build a video studio and how to start a vlog on YouTube. My hope is that I will gain more understanding about these topics by writing about them as well as leave a path for you to follow along in your own journey.
